“Ragamuffin Sinner” is a confession from someone who has exhausted every disguise, bargain, and attempt at self-redemption. With nothing left to offer, he comes before the Father carrying only his guilt, his need, and the hope that mercy can still reach him. The two best books I have ever read are, in order, the Bible and *The Ragamuffin Gospel* by Brennan Manning. Manning showed me the gospel in a way I had not heard it preached in churches. He helped me understand that I do not have to fit someone else’s definition of holiness or righteousness in order to be saved. Yahweh, through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, has already extended His grace to me. It is up to me to accept it. The song follows a broken man who knew the prayers and sang the truth while hiding what he had become. He tried to cleanse himself, repay what could not be repaid, and prove himself worthy, but every effort failed. His hope rests not in the work of his own ruined hands, but in the grace of God and in Yeshua, the Son given in love for sinners. This is a song for those who come stumbling home with no crown, no claim, and nothing left to hold.
