This modern-language reworking of the classic hymn “Abide with Me” is a prayer for God’s presence through hardship, aging, sickness, temptation, and death. It holds to the hymn’s enduring confession that fear loses its power when God remains near, guiding us through life’s fading light toward heaven’s morning. Henry Francis Lyte wrote the original hymn in 1847. These new lyrics preserve its central themes while expressing its prayer in direct, contemporary language.
