Truth in the Thunder

“Truth in the Thunder” is my personal defense of Christian rock and metal, though not an unquestioning defense. I grew up hearing that drums, distortion, and rock ’n’ roll would lead young people away from God. In my life, they often did the opposite. Songs that dealt honestly with sin, mercy, fear, faith, and resurrection reached me when safer and more polished Christian music could not. No musical style is automatically holy, and no instrument is inherently evil. A quiet hymn can become empty performance, while loud guitars can carry conviction and biblical truth. The real question is whether the music serves God or whether the stage, spectacle, and approval of the crowd become idols. The sound is not the Savior, but when the witness is true, even thunder can serve the truth.
